AMPCO METAL has been producing Non Spark; Non Magnetic tools for over 70 years
and is the largest manufacturer of these products, in the world. The Non Spark
tools have traditionally been made from Copper Beryllium and Aluminium Bronze
and some variants of this alloy group. Beryllium either as the pure metal or
when alloyed, generally with Copper to make the Copper Beryllium range of alloys,
has been shown to cause serious lung disease in susceptible people over a very
long exposure time.
AMPCO METAL made the decision to offer its Customers safer alternatives to the
Beryllium Copper products, wherever possible. A policy of alloy development was
implemented that has resulted in the satisfactory replacement of the Copper Beryllium
alloys by an AMPCO METAL Bronze in nearly all applications without any compromise
on the performance of the product.
